1 billion peple in the world don't have acces to save drinking water.
Research shows that clean water allows residents in poor villages to hold jobs, grow food, open business and contribute on their community.
When families have acces to clean drinking water they can spend money on other important things like medicines, food and education.
Some 6000 children die every day from diseases get from drinking dirty water.
When fresh water is available, it is scarce.
One flush of your toilet uses as much water as the average person in a country like Haiti uses for a whole day's washing, drinking, cooking and cleaning.
Water problems in Haiti
Haiti is located on a small island in the Caribbean sea, and is bordered by the Dominican Republic. Haiti is not large country. In fact,it is slightly smaller than the state of Maryland.
While over three-quarters of Haiti is surronded by water, Haitians have a little access to fresh drinking water. 5 million of 8.5 million people in Haiti do not have acces to clean water.
Many Haitians suffer from dehydration-not drinking enough water- another illnesses caused by drinking poor water. Sadly, 1 of every 8 kids in Haiti dies before reaching age five.
Finding solutinons
Water purification systems can turn poor water into drinkable water.
In communities where people can buy and use these systems there's already a drop in the number of water-related illness.
Not everyone has enough money to buy a filter. With the help of goverment and some asositons, more adults and children will have acces to clean water.
With money,education and water filtration systems the quality of live in Haiti can be vastly improved.
INTERNET SAFETY. The Internet has a wealth of information, but it can also be dangerous, especially for kids. How can kids be safe when they chat or blog or use Internet? Think about two aspects: technical safety and personal safety.
